Zarlor Hike – Piton Rouge in the footsteps of a runaway slave (1 dayDate: Sunday 11 nov 2018 - Sunday 9 Dec 2018
Guided hike labelled “Esprit Parc” + a light breakfast +lunch.
Have you heard of King Phaonce? This mythical king, the leader of the runaway slaves, so we are told, whose kingdom extended from Petit Bénare to Grand Bénare ?
Walk in their footsteps, put yourself in the skin of these people who were fleeing slavery along unknown trails.
Fear not, you will have company on this hike, our guide “Eclaireur de l’Ouest” will guide you safely along these paths, marked only by cairns (artificial clusters of stone), left there perhaps by our ancestors, just like Hansel and Gretel, so as not to get lost.
This lovely hike, rich in history, also has splendid views over the west coast.
Your exploration of Reunion heritage will be followed by lunch at Gite des Tamarins « High Hub Hostel.
