Historical and botanical exploration of a Creole garden from the 19th century. The Happy Valley Garden in the village of Le Brûlé is listed as a Historic Monument.
This guided tour looks at both the historical and the botanical aspects of the garden. Visitors wander along the paths surrounded by camellias, tea bushes, azaleas and hydrangeas and discover traces of the primary forest. The guide will also tell you about his achievements in terms of reforestation by endemic species. The tour ends at the “cave of the fairies”.
You will be served tea with home-made jams at the end of the tour. Plants grown on site by your guide are on sale depending on availability: large selection of camellias, azaleas, tea bushes, several endemic plants, various tropical plants. You can also buy home-made jams and handicrafts.
Departure at 9am on Sunday mornings. The tour lasts about two and a half hours.
Please note bookings close on the Friday afternoon before the tour.

What to bring : Wear shoes which you don't mind getting muddy, clothes to cover up if you don't like the cold (especially in winter) or mosquitoes. And bring something for the rain and and something for the sun too. Bring some mosquito repellent in the summer, especially after heavy rain as bamboo is the perfect breeding ground.
